Is the earth round or flat?

Question of active reading.

1. Using the active reader technique from chapter 2, read thew first and last paragraph of this article. Now that you have read the entire article, would you say that the technique gave you a good preview?In my opinion i would say it does. it has questions of interpretation,analysis and evaluates; according to chapter 2 these are important things that this text has and its good idea to have them because the type of information.

2.Why is it important to know that Lightman is a scientist? would an artist or a social worker write about this subject in this way? //I think they would, I believe that they want the audience to know that he's a scientist because it would make what he's saying sound more realistic, and i believe that if we knew that it was not a scientist we probably take the text or article like just a reading and wouldn't take it on.

3.Where is lightman using a lighthearted tone? identify some phrases that show this. where is he serious? Identify some phrases that show this?

In these examples lightman's tone was very light hearted and sarcastic to was .and sometimes when i read this it makes me think that the way he says the stuff is an a tone that shows that he is jealous or has envy or what others did and he didn't.

- Paragraph 5: "with little scrabbling on a piece of paper you an see that those observations imply around earth."
- Paragraph 7: " there is no question that many people believe the earth was round, I wonder how many knew this"
- Paragraph 10: "i suspect that they're quite of few items you take on faith,even important thing you could verify without much trouble"
